Impressions
Impressions are a cool five piece jazz combo featuring Karen Lake on vocals, Pete Lyons on tenor sax, Jez Matthews on piano, Rich Keates on bass and Brian Bestall on drums. They perform material from The Great American Song Book in a classic swing style with their own slick contemporary twist, and are influenced vocally by Ella Fitzgerald, Billie Holiday, and Madeleine Peyroux; instrumentally predominantly by bebop/cool musicians Bud Powell, Monk, Coltrane, Art Blakey, Miles, Bill Evans. They've played many prestigious venues including Derbyshire's Chatsworth House and appeared at the Jazz In The Gardens 2007 event held in the glorious surroundings of Renishaw Hall. Impressions have performed together for three years, with many more years of experience between them playing in other bands such as Lounge Lizards, Black Coffee, Djangoism, Tracey Stewart-Fry Band and The Fat Cats.

Weddings and Events Impressions are an experienced and exciting band of professional, friendly & reliable musicians who regularly perform at private functions such as weddings, civil partnerships, parties, dinner/dances, drinks receptions, corporate events; and publicly in bars and restaurants and hotels. They perform an exhilarating and lively set of swinging standards, sultry ballads and hot Latin rhythms sung in English and Brazilian Portuguese and are pleased to learn any favourite song by prior arrangement. Together they offer a friendly and professional service for your event, and are happy to accommodate your needs wherever possible. Impressions use their own top quality sound equipment to suit the venue and event - from a compact 600W system suitable for most function venues to a 3kW concert system for larger indoor and outdoor events and static stage lighting up to 2kW to set the mood - all their electrical equipment is PAT tested. With prior arrangement they can also provide background music via CDs or an iPod in between sets. All members of the band are professional musicians and have full public liability insurance.
