"I represent a local dance organisation called Lindy Hop Sheffield. We organise monthly dances specialising in the original swing dance, Lindy Hop. The dance requires a strong mix of jazz and swing music at a variety of tempos, and most of our dancers have experience of other live bands, both amateur and professional, on the national and international Lindy Hop scene.

 

Karen Lake and The Hot Shots have played twice for us in recent months. Both nights proved extremely successful and we received nothing but praise for the band. Following their first appearance with us in October 2008, demand for a second booking followed immediately. The band are well organised and the musical arrangements excellent. Karen provides strong vocal performances, an essential ingredient for the night to go with a swing.

 

I would also comment that the band proved reliable when it came to making and confirming the bookings, and on the night. I have no doubt that we will have the pleasure of dancing to Karen Lake and The Hot Shots again in the near future."
